Langfeld put home a rebound past Syracuse goaltender Andrew Penner with the assists going to Antoine Vermette and Anton Volchenkov.

Just over four minutes later, Brandon Bochenski put a picture perfect shot over the catching glove of Penner, giving the Sens a 2-0 lead. Chris Kelly was credited with the lone assist on the goal that came at the 8:59 mark of the middle frame.

Syracuse tried to climb back into the game early in the third period when Jeff Panzer took a puck that had bounced off of Thompson’s chest and slid it into the open net just 1:48 into the third stanza.

That would be as close as the Crunch would get however as Thompson made 14 saves in the closing period to secure the win.

Thompson, the game’s first star, capped off the evening with 38 saves in total while Penner made 32 saves in the loss for the Crunch.

Neither power play unit could get anything going with the limited chances they had. Binghamton was 0 for 1 on the power play while Syracuse was 0 for 2.

The Sens are back in action on Saturday as they travel to Manchester for a 7:35 p.m. tilt with the Atlantic division-leading Monarch’s. You can catch all of the action on 680-AM WINR starting at 7:05 p.m.
