B-Sens' Platil is suspended

BINGHAMTON -- On a local television show early this season, Binghamton Senators defenseman Jan Platil sang karaoke in the living room of his apartment.

For the next two weeks, he'll be singing the blues.

The AHL has slapped Platil with a four-game suspension for his part in Saturday night's brawl with the Albany River Rats. During the third-period altercation, Platil removed his helmet and used it to strike an Albany player, resulting in a match penalty and a game misconduct.

Platil, who has two assists and 166 penalty minutes in 52 games, won't be eligible to play until a March 2 home game against Norfolk. Rookie defenseman Neil Komadoski will take his place in the Senators' lineup.

The AHL suspended Rats wingers Cam Janssen and Brett Clouthier for three games apiece and enforcer Rob Skrlac for one game. Janssen wound up shirtless after the 12-player brawl, in which Clouthier sucker-punched Senators captain Chris Kelly and Skrlac fought goalie Ray Emery.
