The goal was assisted by Josh Langfeld and Anton Volchenkov and was the only goal the Senators would need as they shutout an opponent for the first time this season.

Pat Kavanagh gave Binghamton a 3-0 advantage early in the third with the Senators down a man due to an Andy Hedlund cross-checking penalty.

The Senators special teams broke out of a slump in the third period as Denis Hamel and Brian Pothier each scored power-play goals.

Also scoring for the B-Sens were all-star Brandon Bochenski, Josh Langfeld and Greg Watson.

A total of 209 penalty minutes were called between the teams thanks largely to a brawl involving Ari Ahonen, Brett Clouthier, Cam Janssen, and Rob Skrlac of Albany and Ray Emery, Pat Kavanagh, Brian McGrattan and Jan Platil of Binghamton at 9:42 of the third period.

Anton Volchenkov, Jason Spezza, Brandon Bochenski and Brian Pothier will head east to Manchester, N.H. for the all-star game which will take place on Monday evening.

The rest of the team returns to Binghamton for some rest before Bridgeport visits the arena on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased by calling (607) 722-SENS.
