SENATORS FALL 3-2 IN SHOOTOUT

The Binghamton Senators dropped their third straight contest on Sunday evening with a 3-2 loss to the Syracuse Crunch in a shootout.

After a scoreless first period, Alexander Svitov recorded the game’s first goal at 7:11 of the middle frame. The goal was assisted by Francois Beauchemin and Tyler Sloan.

At 12:54 of the second period Binghamton was able to find the back of the net for the first time in 157:21 when Antoine Vermette picked up his 14th goal of the season. Brandon Bochenski and Jason Spezza were credited with the assists on the goal. The 157:21 in between goals marks a new franchise record for the longest scoreless streak.

After registering an assist on Vermette’s goal, Bochenski put home a tally of his own to give the Sens a 2-1 lead. The power-play goal was assisted by Jason Spezza and Brian Pothier.

Former Binghamton Ranger Chris Ferraro tied the game 2-2 with a short-handed goal 13:06 into the third period. Francois Beauchemin picked up his second assist of the game on the goal.

Syracuse was able to pick up the win in the shootout thanks to goals by Brad Moran, Greg Mauldin, and Joe Motzko.

Jason Spezza and Antoine Vermette scored for the Sens in the shootout.

Ray Emery stopped 29 of 31 shots in the loss for Binghamton while Andrew Penner made 26 saves on 28 shots while picking up the victory.

Binghamton was 1 for 5 on the power play while Syracuse was 0 for 3.

Binghamton hits the road on Monday afternoon in preparation for a Wednesday contest in Norfolk against the Admirals. The game is scheduled for a 7:30p.m. face off. You can catch all of the action beginning at 7 p.m. on WINR 680-AM.
