Forget The B-Rangers

June 7, 2000

Mail Bag

In regard to Sean Mayer’s feature article (on the Hartford Wolf Pack), I find it very disturbing that Mayer is still obsessed with what used to be our hockey team.

For those of you who do not remember, this is the franchise that upped and deserted a city that was very good to them for almost 10 years.  Yes, the same city that never received a thank you from the Rangers organization for all their support.

I think Mayer needs to be reminded that we have a new team in Binghamton.  Yes, a team that gives its all night after night.  Apparently, Mayer still has not gotten over the loss of the fat cat Binghamton Rangers, but they are gone, they are never coming back and we need to support the new team, the Icemen.

The comparison of the two cities (Hartford and Binghamton) is unfair.  The mention of the Icemen having the lowest average attendance in Binghamton’s hockey history is also unfair and does absolutely nothing to promote the growth of this team.

I feel his article was a grave injustice to the strides this current organization has made […].

Support the local teams you have or you will be left with nothing
