MINI RECAP
The Binghamton Black Bears (1-1-0) lost to the Watertown Wolves (1-1-0) in front of 4,626 fans on the Championship Banner night at the Visions Veterans Memorial Arena. Just like the night before the Wolves get on the board first with a Chiwetin Blacksmith power play goal at the 15:23 mark of the 1st. With Cameron Clark still in the penalty box for a double minor for high-sticking, the Black Bears tie up the game at 1 goal a piece with a Blake Tosto short handed tally with just 3:57 to go in the first frame. Unlike on the opening night of the season, Binghamton did not come out in the 2nd period and win the middle frame as Watertown got goals from Ross Bartlett early at the 1:30 mark and then from Kyle Heitzner just 51 seconds later making it a 3-1 Wolves lead. With Connor McAnanama pulled due to a delayed Wolves penalty, the 'Don Father' Donald Olivieri scored an extra attacker goal 3 minutes after the Wolves last goal to make it a 1 goal deficit. However 13:26 into the 2nd period, Chiwetin Blacksmith scored his 2nd goal of the game putting the Wolves back up, by 2 goals. In the 3rd period, the Captain of the Black Bears, Tyson Kirkby scored his first goal of the season, it was on the man advantage as Michael Mercurio was in the 'Sin Bin' for Slashing, once again getting the Black Bears back to within 1 goal of the Wolves. However Mercurio sealed the deal for the Wolves scoring an empty-net goal with 5 seconds left in the game giving the Wolves their first win of the season and pushing the Black Bears to a 1-1 record.
