The Binghamton Black
Bears (1-0) defeated the Carolina Thunderbirds
(0-1) by the score of 4-1 in game 1 of the Commissioner's Cup
playoffs. Kyle Stephan scores his first goal of the
post-season getting the Black Bears a 1 goal lead early scoring 3:33
into the 1st period. Tradining places, Stephan then got the puck to
Gavin Yates who scored the Black Bears second goal
of the game just under 3 minutes later. The Thunderbirds then scored
their first goal of the Finals 8:34 into the period with
Zach White's 3rd goal of the playoffs, making this a 2-1
Binghamton lead. After another turn over for the Thunderbirds in
their own zone, Blake Tosto makes them pay with his
second goal of the playoffs 5:36 into the middle period making this
a 3-1 game. The Thunderbirds again turnover the in their own zone,
this time allowing the puck onto the stick of Tyson Kirkby
who scores his 3rd goal of the playoffs with 3:15 left to go in the
period. The Black Bears take game 1 down in Winston-Salem by the
score of 4-1, game 2 is Saturday night at 6 PM.
