| The Binghamton Black Bears (33-4-1) defeated the HC Venom (7-21-3) 5 to 3 on Valentine's Day in Binghamton to extend their win streak to 12. The Venom strike first in the game scoring the first goal off their 3rd shot from Mark Pozsar just 1:24 into the opening period. With Austin Thompson in the box for hooking, the Venom strike again, scoring a power play goal off the stick of Lester Brown just 4:13 into the period. While the two teams were on a 4 on 4 sequence Gavin Yates skated into the offense zone almost by himself and his shot past Rahul Sharma putting this game at a 2-1 lead for the Venom. The Venom take another 2 goal lead as Luke Richards scores the Venom's 3rd goal of the period at the 15:01 mark of the opening period. The Black Bears get a very important late period goal off a beautiful shot from CJ Stubbs with 2:26 left to go in the first period making this a 3-2 game. The Black Bears tie the score up 3-3 with a Donald Olivieri power play goal at the 8:23 mark of the middle period as the Venom's Luke Richards was in the box for high-sticking the Black Bears Gavin Yates. The Black Bears take a 4-3 lead in game with a Tyson Kirkby goal at the 2:17 mark of the final period. With Bret Parker in the box for interference, Tyson Kirkby added his 2nd goal of the game even-strength 5:52 into the 3rd making this a 5-3 game. The Black Bears finish the game with a 5-3, winning their 12th straight game of the season. |
