MINI RECAP
The Binghamton Black Bears (46-6-1) lose to the Athens Rock Lobsters (42-8-3) in Athens, Georgia on a Wednesday evening despite coming back in the 3rd period and scoring 3 goals. No scoring in the first period as both teams played a physical game and the two teams seemed to be feeling each other out on the ice. The Rock Lobsters get on the score-sheet first with a goal from Avery Smith who scores at the 7:01 mark of the second period. Just 33 seconds later at the 7:34 mark the Rock Lobsters made this a 2-0 game with a goal off the stick of Kayson Gallant. Gallant then scored on a 2 on 1 play where he beat Black Bears net-minder Connor McAnanama glove side high with 8:13 left to go in the period. With Carter Shinkaruk in the penalty box for the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, the Black Bears Captain Tyson Kirkby gets the Black Bears on the board with a power play goal just 1:14 into the 3rd period. The Rock Lobsters take another 3 goal lead with Kayson Gallant's hat trick goal at the 9:27 mark of the 3rd period making this a 4-1 game. The Black Bears scored their second power play goal of the game with 1:57 left to go in the 3rd period off the Captain's stick again as Kirkby scores his 2nd power play goal of the game. Then with the Black Bears again on the power and a pulled Connor McAnanama, the Black Bears scored another power play goal, their 3rd of the period off the stick of Austin Thompson to make this a 4-3 game.
